Worth’s book combines math, baseball
Dr. Fred Worth, professor of mathematics at Henderson State University, has combined his profession and his passion for baseball to write and publish College Mathematics Through Baseball.
The new book makes mathematical concepts more engaging with examples drawn from baseball and other sports, providing a basis for a solid survey of college math.
“Mathematics is often challenging for students majoring in nontechnical fields,” Worth said. “Liberal arts students will find concepts applicable to ‘real life’ presented in ways not typically taught in college algebra courses.”
Worth is a member of the Society for American Baseball Research.
