Henderson State University’s Wind Ensemble will present its final concert of the fall semester at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in Arkansas Hall. Entitled “Suites and Sweets,” the program will feature four popular suites of music composed by Gustav Holst, Malcolm Arnold, Darius Milhaud and Leonard Bernstein.
Following the concert, band service organizations Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma will sell dessert items in the lobby. Proceeds will benefit the Henderson band program.
The Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Steven M. Knight, is comprised of the university’s finest wind and percussion musicians, and performs traditional and contemporary wind repertoire of the highest quality. The ensemble performs two on-campus concerts each semester, and has performed off-campus at national and state conferences as well as on public school tours in Arkansas and Texas.
The concert program includes:
- Second Suite in F for Military Band, Op. 28, No. 2
- Little Suite for Brass Band No. 1, Op. 80, conducted by Dr. Shaun R. Popp
- Suite Francaise
- Candide Suite
The concert is free and open to the public.
