Trumpeter Rex Richardson to perform
Renowned international trumpeter Rex Richardson will perform with Henderson State University’s Wind Ensemble April 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Arkansas Hall.
Richardson will present a master class at 7:30 p.m. April 18 and also discuss his career at 12:30 p.m. in the Russell Fine Arts recital hall. All events are free and open to the public.
Richardson is a veteran of the renowned Rhythm & Brass chamber ensemble, and performs with jazz legend Joe Henderson’s Quintet, the Chicago Jazz Ensemble, and the Brass Band of Battle Creek. He has also appeared with numerous celebrity artists.
As a Yamaha Performing Artist, Richardson stays busy as a headline artist at international festivals and as a soloist with orchestras, jazz ensembles, brass bands and concert bands across the world. He is a professor of trumpet and jazz trumpet at Virginia Commonwealth University, and is currently Yamaha artist-in-residence at the Royal Northern College of Music.
