May 17, 2017 by Steve Fellers

Tai is Henderson’s first string performance major

Ariya YeinHwa Tai, a freshman at Henderson State, is the university’s first  string performance major. She is pursuing a degree in both violin and piano performance.

Tai performed March 9 during a string recital in the Russell Fine Arts recital hall.

Tai, who is from Malaysia, has already earned performer’s diplomas from Trinity College of London on both instruments. She won first place in the J.D. Kelly Piano Competition, honorable mention (piano) at the Trinity Collegiate Performance Competition, and placed as a finalist in both string and piano in the Delta State Symphony Young Artist Concerto Competition.
