Small business forum targets minorities
Minorities and disabled veterans interested in owning or expanding a small business in Arkansas will soon have a chance to explore available opportunities.
The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center at Henderson State University is partnering with the Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC) Small and Minority Business Division to present a free forum in Arkadelphia for minorities and service disabled veterans. The event will be held May 21, 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., in Dawson Education Cooperative Building #9, 711 Clinton St. Lunch will be provided.
Featured speakers from the AEDC and Southern Bancorp will discuss the Minority Business Enterprise Certification and the Minority Business Loan Mobilization program. ASBTDC and AEDC services will also be addressed.
“Attendees will learn who is eligible for the certification and how to access assistance with the application process for both the certification and loan mobilization guaranty program,” said Leah Hasley, ASBTDC director at Henderson. “The goal of the forum is to increase awareness of these programs in an effort to increase opportunities available to minority business owners to sell products and services to the State of Arkansas.”
