Schroeder commissioned by Fort Smith Symphony

May 17, 2017 by Steve Fellers

Schroeder commissioned by Fort Smith Symphony

Dr. Phillip Schroeder, professor of music at Henderson State University, has received a commission to compose an orchestral work for the Fort Smith Symphony.

The new composition will be the symphony’s “official” commission celebrating the 200th anniversary of the founding of the City of Fort Smith. The work will be premiered during a concert in 2018.

Schroeder will also spend several days in Fort Smith attending rehearsals and participating in outreach programs.

Schroeder has appeared as a guest composer, lecturer and performer throughout the United States and Europe. He has composed music for soloists, chamber ensembles, live electronics, band, orchestras and choir. Schroeder’s music appears on several record labels.
