Research team’s poster accepted for D.C. event
Work produced by a team of research students at Henderson State University has been accepted for presentation at the Council on Undergraduate Research’s annul “Posters on the Hill” event in Washington D.C.
Their research project features the “metagenomic DNA sequencing of bacteria from cave crickets that reveals diverse and complex ecological relationships in an extreme environment.”
Members of the research team include: Brooke Jones; Brooke Johnson; Taylor Lee, a 2016 graduate; and Caitlyn Gosch.
“It is particularly exciting to have these students selected for this event as acceptance is very competitive,” said Dr. James Engman, professor of biology. “Only 60 projects from across the U.S. have been invited out of more than 600 applications.
This is the third time that students from Engman’s lab have been selected for the event.
The presentation will occur April 26 on Capitol Hill, and the team will participate in tours and visit with Arkansas legislators.
