Opera Workshop to perform ‘Billy Goats Gruff’
Henderson State University’s Opera Workshop will present a free performance of The Three Billy Goats Gruff at 3 p.m. April 26 in the Russell Fine Arts Building recital hall. The opera for children features music by Mozart, Rossini, and Donizetti.
The 40-minute performance is suited for Pre-K through fifth grades, but children of all ages and their families are invited.
The Three Billy Goats Gruff is an imaginative re-telling of the familiar children’s tale with a surprise ending. Instead of a troll keeping the billy goats from crossing the bridge, it’s a mean billy goat with no friends that keeps them from crossing.
“I particularly like this opera because is features some positive strategies for dealing with bullies,” said Dr. Laura Storm, professor of music at Henderson.
Seven off-campus performances are scheduled in Arkadelphia, Little Rock, Benton, Bryant, and Gurdon. For more information, contact Storm at 870-230-5413
