Opera singer to perform Sept. 13
Sarah Mesko, an opera singer and Hot Springs native, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13 in Henderson State University’s Russell Fine Arts Center recital hall. The concert will feature music of “Nature and the Seasons,” with accompaniment by Dr. Hee-Kyung Juhn on piano.
An up-and-coming artist, Mesko will make her debut at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City this winter. She will also perform with the Dallas Opera at the Dallas Museum of Art early next year.
Mesko received her master of music degree in vocal performance from Rice University and a bachelor of music degree in vocal and flute performance from the University of Arkansas.
In 2009, Mesko became a national finalist of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. She has since performed roles in several operas and appeared in recitals internationally. Mesko has won various competitions, and is one of few singers to have won the Richard F. Gold Career Grant more than once, in 2009 and 2011.
The concert is free and open to the public.
