Nursing program ranked best in state 
Henderson State University’s nursing program has been ranked as the best in Arkansas by RegisteredNursing.org.
Nursing programs were assessed on several factors which represent how well a program supports students towards licensure and beyond. For example, researchers analyzed past and present NCLEX-RN “pass rates,” weighted by year.
The NCLEX-RN exam is used by all state boards of nursing across the U.S. to help assess a student’s competency and is required for licensure.
Henderson nursing graduates in the 2015-2016 academic year achieved a 100 percent pass rate on their first time to take the NCLEX-RN exam. Graduates also achieved a 100 percent employment rate for the past several years.
“It is an honor to be ranked as Arkansas’s top nursing program,” said Dr. Shelley Austin, assistant professor and chair of Henderson’s nursing department. “Our department strives to provide quality education to our students with an outstanding nursing faculty.
“We provide small class sizes with low student-to-instructor ratios that help to facilitate student success. Our degree programs prepare professional nurses to pursue graduate degrees as well.”
Dr. Steve Adkison, Henderson State provost and vice president for academic affairs, said, “This ranking confirms what we have long known, that HSU’s nursing program is Arkansas’s best, and underscores the stellar quality of our students, our faculty, and our staff,”
Henderson offers several nursing degree programs:
• R.N to B.S.N. (online) available for registered nurses with flexible practicum projects
• Dual Degree R.N. to B.S.N. available at National Park College and in Hot Springs
• R.N. to B.S.N. program with partial face-to-face coursework in Hot Springs and partial online classes
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (traditional) available on campus in Arkadelphia
• L.P.N. to B.S.N. (traditional) available on campus in Arkadelphia
