NuFusion jazz ensemble concert April 24
NuFusion, Henderson State University’s exciting student jazz ensemble, will perform a free public concert outdoors on Henderson’s Quad Friday, April 24, at 8 p.m. The performance will feature a wide range of music, much of which was arranged by students.
“This is a great family event,” said Dr. Rick Dimond, director of the group. “Bring your family, friends, blankets, Frisbees, beach balls, bubbles, and enjoy the show.”
NuFusion includes about 20 student musicians and features a standard big band horn and rhythm section with lead and background vocalists. This year’s concert will feature music by the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, Biz Markie, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Duke Ellington, Stevie Wonder, Chuck Mangione, and many others.
The Quad area is located between the Garrison Center and Russell Fine Arts building. In case of rain, the concert will be held in the Garrison Center’s Grand Ballroom. Dimond said the band will perform a “1980s MTV unplugged-style” show if rain forces the concert indoors. But there will still be an impressive sound system and plenty of lights.
