National Library Week 2017

May 7, 2017 by Susie Kirk

National Library Week is a celebration of our country’s libraries and library workers. Libraries around the nation spend this week promoting library use and support.

This year’s National Library week was April 9 – 15. To celebrate, Huie Library participated in social media promotions to promote the library, staff, and student workers.

One social media campaign we participated in was the “Expert in the Library” campaign hosted by I Love Libraries, a branch of the American Library Association. We had members of the library staff and student workers take photos with customizable signs. The signs had messages such as “I am an expert in..”; “My librarian is an expert in…”; and “Librarians are experts in…”.

I Love Libraries hosted a nationwide contest open to anyone using the the hashtag #expertinthelibrary. Our post featuring our student worker Ayanna Austin was selected. To see this post visit – http://bit.ly/2qekniC.
