Music workshop participants sing and dance

January 26, 2018 by Henderson State

Armed with puppets, rhythm sticks, children’s literature and other items, guest clinician Kurt Cereske let participants at a recent elementary music workshop at Henderson State sing, dance and play. The students were led through the pedagogical steps that may be incorporated into their K-6 programs.

Cereske said music teachers have their own favorite set of materials from which they love to teach.

“But deeply rooted in every music teacher is the desire to seek out new songs, games and materials to supplement them,” he said.

Cereske teaches pedagogy in the Kodaly Association of Southern California Music Education Institute, the Portland State University Kodaly Certification Workshop, and the West Texas Kodaly Initiative.
