Music faculty showcase Sept. 20
Henderson State University’s music faculty will put their talents on display at the HSU Faculty Showcase Sept. 20. Instrumentalists and vocalists will perform solo and chamber works by a variety of well-known composers.
The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Russell Fine Arts Harwood Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.
The program includes:
• May Tsao-Lim, piano, and Hee-Kyung Juhn, piano, performing Vif and Brazileira from “Scaramouche pour deux pianos” by Darius Milhaud
• Amy Laursen, horn, performing Laudatio by Bernhard Krol
• Laura Storm, soprano, and Hee-Kyung Juhn, piano, performing Ride on King Jesus from “Cantata for Voice and Piano” by John Carter
• Algis Staskevicius, violin, performing Ballade from “Sonata No. 3 op. 27” by Eugene Ysaye
• Bill Higgins, baritone, and May Tsao-Lim, piano, performing Who is Sylvia and It was a Lover and His Lass from “Let Us Garlands Bring” by Gerald Finzi
• Todd Cranson, tuba, performing Blackbird by Paul McCartney
• Steve Becraft, clarinet, and KyoungHwa Molinari, piano, performing Vals Venezolano by Paquito D’Rivera
• Jamie Lipton, euphonium, performing 1. Ducati SPS 916 from “Pearls” by Roland Szentpali
• Sarah Stankiewicz, mezzo-soprano, May Tsao-Lim, piano, and Rick Dimond, electric piano, performing The Tale of the Oyster by Cole Porter
• Jennifer Amox, flute, Shannon Clardy, oboe, and May Tsao-Lim, piano, performing Aria and Vivo from “Trio for Flute, Oboe, and Piano” by Blaz Pucihar
The event is presented by the Matt Locke Ellis College of Arts and Sciences and Department of Music.
