May 17, 2017 by Steve Fellers

Martin Luther King celebration Jan. 16

Henderson State University will host a Martin Luther King Day celebration Jan. 16 from 11 a.m.-noon in the Garrison Center Lecture Hall. A reception will follow in the Grand Ballroom.

Frederick Webb, pastor of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Texarkana, will be the guest speaker. Webb recently retired from the Texarkana School District as a middle school assistant principal.

He attended Southern Arkansas University where he became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. King, too, was a member of the fraternity.

Webb graduated from SAU in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. He received a second degree in physical education from Louisiana Tech in 1983, and earned his Master of Education in 2000 from Texas A&M University-Texarkana.

The events are open to the public.
