Kreckmann named interim director of choral activities
Andrew Kreckmann has joined Henderson State University as Interim Director of Choral Studies.
Before joining Henderson State, Kreckmann served as Interim Director of Choral Studies at Wayne State University in Detroit. While at Wayne State, Kreckmann also oversaw the choral conducting graduate program, which included conducting, choral literature and degree recitals.
Kreckmann completed his Doctor of Musical Arts in choral conducting at Texas Tech University. He earned his master’s degree in choral conducting from Michigan State University as well as a Bachelor of Music in music education from the University of Delaware.
Prior to attending graduate school, Kreckmann served as Director of Choral Activities to over 200 students at Morris Knolls High School in Rockaway, N.J. During this time, he also served as president or board member to several county, regional and all-state boards in New Jersey. He was also named Teacher of the Year in 2008.
Throughout his career, Kreckmann has served as an accompanist, guest conductor and clinician to numerous honor choirs throughout New Jersey, Delaware, Michigan and Texas. His choirs have toured across the United States and Europe, and he has had the privilege of serving as chorus master to several major opera productions.
