International radio program interviews Rigsby

Dr. Malcolm Rigsby, associate professor of sociology at Henderson State, was interviewed Nov. 5 on the international radio program Prison Focus hosted by KPOO Radio in San Francisco.

The 30-minute interview was the first of several program segments regarding the role of religious conversion as a means to transform toward a pro-social self and identity assisting of others, Rigsby said.

Additional interviews will include: religion and spirituality as a means to dispel stigma and labels; a discussion of Rigsby’s study in prison where by narrative discussion the prisoners themselves described their conversion experiences and their transformations; and how this process may be better employed as part of an outcomes based multi-treatment program to enhance reentry of prisoners to society.

The program airs live on Thursdays at 1 p.m. central time.
