HSU master’s in education among most affordable
Henderson State University has been named one of the 50 Most Affordable Small Colleges for a Master’s In Education by the online guide Top Education Degrees.
“The Teachers College at Henderson State is a national leader in preparing educators,” according to Top Education Degrees. “Its Master of Arts in Teaching program is designed to prepare individuals with no prior training or experience in education to enter a teaching position or similar environment.”
“We and our graduates have known for a long time that we offer high quality, affordable graduate degrees in education. Now it is good to be recognized nationally,” said Dr. Judy Harrison, dean of Teachers College, Henderson. “Some larger universities, offering total package deals for a set price, are quite good at pitching their products to educators who believe that they have found a quick and affordable way to earn a master’s degree.
“What an educator may not know is that he or she can get a quality graduate degree, often online, for about the same price or less from HSU. The difference between Henderson’s master’s programs and high volume programs is that at Henderson, all students have HSU advisors (mentors), and all of our graduate courses are taught by Henderson faculty. Graduates from our programs are recognized at state and national levels for excellence in education.”
The guide selected schools offering a master’s in education degree with an undergraduate enrollment of less than 5,000. It then compiled a list of accredited programs and listed them based on tuition, which was gathered from the NCES College Navigator database.
“These 50 affordable small colleges represent an impressive array of choices for those interested in a master’s in education,” according to the guide’s report. “For decades, a degree in education has been a compelling choice for undergraduate and graduate students alike.
“With the demand for highly qualified teachers on the rise, as well as the significant increase in salary afforded to teachers with an advanced degree, a master’s in education is more popular than ever.”
This designation is indicative of Henderson State’s goal to provide an affordable, quality education and expand the opportunities for its students.
