Henderson State University’s Concert Choir and University Chorale will present a free concert March 4 at Garvan Woodland Gardens. The program begins at 4:30 p.m. in Anthony Chapel.
Entitled On the Veneration of David, the performance will feature works by Stanford, Tomkins, Mendelssohn, Rossini, Anerio, Thompson, Stroope and Runestad. The performing groups are under the direction of Dr. Andrew Kreckmann.
The University Chorale is a select group of about 32 singers. Members of the ensemble perform challenging a cappella and accompanied choral literature reflecting a variety of styles and genres. Each year the ensemble performs on-campus concerts, tours regionally, and travels internationally once every four years.
The Concert Choir is a large ensemble with a long history of performing major choral works with orchestra on campus and with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Concert Choir also performs annual seasonal concerts and sings a variety of a cappella and accompanied choral music. Members of the Concert Choir have toured throughout Europe and Asia, and have performed in Carnegie Hall.
Garvan Woodland Gardens is located at 550 Arkridge Road, just south of Hot Springs.
