Henderson to celebrate homecoming Oct. 21-24

Henderson State University will celebrate “A Reunion of Hearts” during homecoming Oct. 21-24.

From receptions, luncheons and a theater production, to sporting events, tailgating and the crowning of the queen, Homecoming 2015 promises to offer an exciting series of events.

A highlight of the weekend will be a special presentation by Henderson’s choir and Wind Ensemble Oct. 23 as they perform Measures of the Heart, which was commissioned for Henderson’s 125th Anniversary. A theatre performance of My Turn Next, which was performed at Henderson’s first graduation ceremony, will immediately follow.

These free events will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Arkansas Hall and are open to the public.

Homecoming will culminate Oct. 24 with a key Great American Conference football game as the Reddies host Southern Arkansas University.

•           Homecoming Court Top 10 voting, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Garrison Street

•           Softball Home Run Derby, 5 p.m., Dee White Field

Thursday, Oct. 22

•           Homecoming Top 10 Voting, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Garrison Street

•           Presentation of homecoming queen candidates, 7 p.m., Garrison Lecture Hall

•           Top 10 announcement and pep rally following candidate presentation, Barkman House lawn

Friday, Oct. 23

•           Homecoming queen voting, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Garrison Street

•           H Club Homecoming 4-person Golf Scramble, 11 a.m., DeGray Lake Resort Golf Course

•           125th Anniversary Book Signing by David Sesser, 4-5 p.m., Garrison Center Lecture Hall Foyer, and 6-7:30 p.m. in front of the Grand Ballroom. Books will be available for sale.

•           School of Business Alumni Reception, 5-5:30 p.m., Garrison Center Wilson Room

•           Distinguished Alumni Banquet, 5:30 p.m., Garrison Center Grand Ballroom

•           125th Anniversary Arts Performance – Choir and Wind Ensemble performance of Measures of the Heart; Theatre performance of My Turn Next, 7:30 p.m., Arkansas Hall.
