Henderson one of Best Schools for Scholarships
Henderson State University has been named No. 52 on the GoodCall 2016 Best Schools for Scholarships list for the university’s ability to connect students with the needed financial aid to complete a college degree.
About 90 percent of Henderson State’s students receive some form of financial aid, from scholarships to grants. This ranking is based solely on the amount of aid given to students that does not have to be paid back.
Henderson State was one of 16 universities and colleges in Arkansas that made the list. For state schools, it was only ranked behind the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff for the average amount of scholarship and fellowship dollars given to enrolled students.
“This report is a refreshing look at the amount of scholarship and fellowship dollars available to students when the average student loan debt is currently the highest ever,” according to GoodCall. “With over 4,000 public U.S. colleges and universities evaluated, Henderson State University is positioned highly for having a large amount of scholarship and fellowship dollars per enrolled student.”
Data for this report was pulled from the NCES (National Center for Education Statistics) IPEDS data comparison tool. To be included in this report, an institution must be a public, degree-granting higher education institution. To calculate the rankings, we looked at:
• The gross amount of scholarships and fellowships applied to tuition at each institution during the 2014 school year
• The 12-month enrollment for the 2014 school year at each institution
The final ranking is based off the average amount of scholarship and fellowship dollars per enrolled student at each university.
