Henderson named one of most affordable small colleges west of the Mississippi
Henderson State University has been named one of the nation’s 100 most affordable small colleges west of the Mississippi River by GreatValueColleges.net.
Henderson was ranked No. 14 on the list provided by the online resource designed “to help students get the best possible education for their money,” according to the site.
According to a recent report released by the Digest for Educational Statistics, the average total cost for attending a four-year college or university can run between $17,474 a year up to $39,302 per year, depending upon whether the college is public, private, or private not-for-profit. These numbers reflect tuition, fees, and room and board. Dedicated to helping students and their families maximize the value they receive for their tuition dollars, GreatValueColleges.net rankings are based on publicly available information from reputable third-party sources.
For its Affordable Small Colleges West of the Mississippi ranking, GreatValueColleges identified four-year colleges and universities that enroll 4,000 or fewer students and are located west of the Mississippi River. The colleges that fit in that category were then ranked on their “net price,” which comes from College Navigator (a component of the National Center for Education Statistics).
“Of course, as much as all students want to attend a great quality school, most also have to consider price,” the site noted. “Fortunately, there are plenty of colleges out there that offer great value – that is, an ideal blend of high caliber and low cost.”
