Henderson hosts play therapy conference Henderson State University hosted the Arkansas Association for Play Therapy Conference June 10-11. Play therapy professionals from across the state heard Dr. Terry Kottman speak about activity-based counseling and other topics relating to play therapy. Kottman founded The Encouragement Zone, a center where she provides play therapy training and supervision, life coaching, counseling, and “playshops” for women. Dr. Franc Hudspeth, chair and assistant professor of counselor education at Henderson, is the director of the Institute for Play Therapy at the university and president of the Arkansas branch of the Association of Play Therapy. He was recently awarded the National Service Award by the National Association for Play Therapy.
