Henderson dean runs Boston Marathon
Dr. John Hardee, dean of Henderson State’s Ellis College of Arts and Sciences, ran the Boston Marathon in April. It was the second time Hardee has participated in the world’s oldest annual marathon.
Hardee said he “doesn’t really know,” where he finished among the almost 30,000 runners, but believes he was among the 50 percentile of his age group.
“I just wanted to see if I could still do it,” he said. “But it’s a challenge just to qualify.”
Hardee said he noticed more international participants this year, along with obvious security enhancements.
“There were cops everywhere,” he said.
Hardee said he might run the marathon one more time when he turns 70.
