Henderson alums earn teaching awards
Several Arkansas teachers who are Henderson State alumni have been honored this year for their achievements in the classroom.
- Tammye Stahler, a math instructor at Harrison High School, was named 2015 Arkansas Rural Teacher of the Year.
- LaMont Page, a 2015 MAT graduate and teacher in the Hot Springs School district, was presented the Alternative Apple Award for Outstanding AAAE Educator by the Arkansas Association of Alternative Educators.
- Keragan McCready and East Ascension High School (La.) received the Strength of America Award from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
- Amanda Jones, a science teacher at Poyen Public Schools, and Briand Leonard, math teacher at Lake Hamilton High, were honored with the Presidential Award for Mathematics and Science Teaching.
- Sarah Riley was named Lake Hamilton School District’s Teacher of the Year.
- Carman McBride, an environmental and spatial technology (EAST) facilitator in the Little Rock School District was named a 2014-2015 Milken Educator.
