Farmer’s paper wins top award
Dr. Darrel Farmer, assistant professor of communication and debate coach at Henderson State University, was awarded the top paper in argumentation and forensics at the 84th annual Central States Communication Association conference March 15 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Farmer had two competitive papers among the final four. The winning research topic was an analysis of the ethical dilemmas brought about by rules changes for the debate format. The argument is that the rules appeal to, both explicitly and implicitly, a set of ethical considerations that have never been formally codified by the National Forensics Association.
