Six Henderson State University faculty members were honored recently with Excellence in Teaching Awards.
The awards recognize outstanding performance by Henderson faculty who have served the university community above and beyond the call of duty.
• Lewis Kanyiba, assistant professor of Health and Physical Education, joined the Henderson faculty in 2015. He earned his Ph.D. in physical education – teaching and administration, from Springfield College in 2011.
• Jennifer Zarzosa, assistant professor of marketing, has been a member of the Henderson faculty since 2014. Zarzosa received her Ph.D. from New Mexico State University.
• Matthew Bowman, associate professor of history, joined the Henderson faculty in 2015. He earned his Ph.D. in history from Georgetown University in 2011.
• Laura Storm, professor of music, has been a Henderson faculty member since 2001. She received her Ph.D. in vocal performance from Florida State University.
• Kristen Benjamin, instructor of biology, joined the Henderson faculty in 2003 as a lab/greenhouse technician. She earned her M.S. in biology from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock in 2011.
• Matthew Schoultz, instructor of computer science, was named outstanding new faculty member. Schoultz became a member of the Henderson faculty in 2012. He received his M.B.A. from Henderson in 2003.
