Faculty honored for years of service

Henderson State University honored faculty members for their years of service at a ceremony April 16 in the Garrison Center Banquet Room.

Dr. Wayne McGinnis, professor of English, and Dr. David Thomson, professor of English and director of Honors College, were each recognized for 40 years of service.

Honored for 30 years of service were: Robert Yehl, library director and associate librarian, and Dr. John Graves, professor of history and Department of Social Sciences chair.

25-year honorees were: Dr. Jim Buckner, professor and chair, Department of Music; Dr. Martin Halpern, professor of history; Dr. Haroon Khan, professor of political science; Dr. John Long, professor and chair, Department of Chemistry; Dr. Lonnie McDonald, professor of curriculum and instruction; Dr. Stuart Shaw, professor of geography; and Dr. Renn Tumlison, professor of biology.

Honored for 20 years were: Mitzi Bass, assistant professor of English; Dr. Carolyn Eoff, professor and chair, Department of Mathematics & Computer Science; Dr. Herman Gibson III, professor and chair, Department of Sociology.

15-year honorees were: John Miller, instructor and director of athletic training; Lonnie Jackson, assistant professor of management and MBA director; Dr. Basil Miller, professor of physics; William Henshaw, professor of theatre arts; and Dr. Michael Miller, professor and chair, Department of Communication & Theatre Arts.

Honored for 10 years were: Linda Evans, associate librarian/university archivist; Dr. Stephanie Barron, associate professor of English; Aaron Calvert, associate professor of art; Paul Glover, associate professor of communication; John Greene, assistant professor of mathematics; and Dr. Patrick Wempe, professor of recreation.

Five-year honorees were: Dr. Vincent Dunlap, associate professor of chemistry; and Dr. Jamie Lipton, assistant professor of trombone/low brass.

Two retiring faculty were recognized: Dr. Martin Halpern, professor of history (25 years), and Dr. Lonnie McDonald, professor of curriculum and instruction (25 years).
