ERZ receives learning grant
Henderson State University’s Education Renewal Zone (ERZ) is one of 10 schools and organizations awarded a grant from Mawi Learning to provide professional development for area teachers in partnership with the Dawson Education Service Cooperative
The grant will provide access to the Powerful Educator program, a course designed to empower educators to increase student engagement and improve school culture. The course will be facilitated this spring with the assistance of ERZ Director Greg Wertenberger and Annette Brown, K-12 Science Specialist at the Dawson Education Service Cooperative.
Henderson State’s ERZ focuses resources on helping Arkansas schools improve school performance and student achievement.
“It’s inspiring to work with dedicated educators who are serving students and families in southwest Arkansas,” said Greg Wertenberger, ERZ director. “The Powerful Educator course is a great example of the type of innovative approaches educators are developing to help ensure that every student in our state has an educational experience that is second to none.”
In a combination of online coursework, face-to-face collaboration and reflective classroom practice. The course is designed to inspire students and educators to capitalize on their potential by applying research-based strategies to encourage action, foster relationships, instill powerful mindsets and build critical skills.
