Emery wins Best of Show in student art competition

Joshua Emery of Hot Springs was awarded Best of Show for his oil on canvas entitled Iggy in the 2016 Student Competitive Art Exhibition at Henderson State University.
Franchesca Smith of Lillie, La., received first runner-up honors for her ceramic work, and Kayelyn Foote of Little Rock was awarded second runner-up for her oil on canvas.
The Peer Choice Award went to Christina Millard of Hot Springs Village for her mixed media. Amber Ivey of Jacksonville was awarded the Faculty Purchase Award for her oil painting. Gabby Calvin of Hot Springs and Chris Sharp of Donaldson were awarded honorable mention.
The selected pieces and other entries will be on display in the Russell Fine Arts Center gallery weekdays from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. through May 5. For more information about Henderson’s Department of Art, go to www.hsu.edu/art.
