Duncan named co-editor of comics studies series
Dr. Randy Duncan, professor of communication at Henderson State, has been named co-editor, along with Matthew J. Smith, of the Routledge Advances in Comics Studies Series.
The series will promote outstanding research on comics and graphic novels from communication theory, rhetorical theory and media studies perspectives. Additionally, the series aims to bring European, Asian, African, and Latin American comics scholarship to the English speaking world.
Comics studies is a recently established and rapidly evolving field with much exciting research still to be done, and the Routledge Advances in Comics Studies is dedicated to furthering the understanding of comics as an art form and a medium of communication.
Routledge is a global publisher of academic books, journals, and online resources in the humanities and social sciences.
Will Eisner Week
Duncan said Henderson State was among several locations in the U.S. and across the world that celebrated Will Eisner Week, an annual series of events that recognizes graphic novels, sequential art, free speech, and the legacy of Eisner, one of the most innovative figures in the history of comics and graphic novels.
