Community Listening Forum Oct. 17
Henderson State University will host one of several Community Listening Forums presented by the Arkansas Department of Education across the state this month.
The forum on Oct. 17 will provide general information about the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and encourages participants to share their ideas on how communities can support quality schools.
The event will be 5:30-7 p.m. in Henderson’s Garrison Center Lecture Hall. Online registration is available at goo.gl/forms/vAQ11EQtdZTMi12E3.
Stakeholders from across the public and private education sector, parents, business leaders, and all student advocacy groups are encouraged by the ADE to attend and “help ensure all students have equitable access to high-quality education.”
ESSA, signed into law in 2015, reauthorizes the 50-year-old Elementary and Secondary Education Act. ESSA replaces the No Child Left Behind Act and gives states and districts more authority to develop their own accountability system.

The forum is cohosted by Arkadelphia Public Schools, Dawson Education Service Cooperative, DeQueen/Mena Education Service Cooperative, Henderson State University STEM Center, and the Southwest-A Education Renewal Zone at Henderson State.
