Claar to give conference keynote
Dr. Victor V. Claar, professor of economics at Henderson State University, will give the closing keynote address to students from around the American Midwest at the Intercollegiate Studies Institute’s Indianapolis Leadership Conference, March 24-26, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Claar will speak on “Economics and the Pursuit of Happiness,” which is also the conference theme.
The conference is expected to draw 50-60 student leaders aged 18-29. During this intensive weekend of conversation and camaraderie, the attendees will have the opportunity to participate in breakout discussions, learn from top scholars, and develop lifelong connections.
The weekend’s other speakers are: Lawrence W. Reed, president of the Foundation for Economic Education; Tawni H. Ferrarini, the Sam M. Cohodas Professor of Economics at Northern Michigan University; and Michael Matheson Miller, research fellow at the Acton Institute and the director and producer of the award-winning documentary, Poverty, Inc.
Claar teachers both undergraduate and graduate students at Henderson, and also serves on the faculty of the Honors College. He is an affiliate scholar of the Acton Institute. Claar is a past Fulbright Scholar, having spent a year teaching graduate students and conducting research in the former Soviet Republic of Armenia. He has a lengthy record of publications, including his book, Economics in Christian Perspective: Theory, Policy and Life Choices, now in its 10th printing and recently translated into Chinese for publication and sale in Taiwan.
