Business dean candidates to visit campus 
In January 2016, Henderson State University will welcome two candidates for the position of dean of the School of Business to visit the campus.
Candidates for the position are Dr. Ed Bashaw of Arkansas Tech University and Dr. Suresh Gopalan of Winston-Salem State University.
Bashaw, who will visit Henderson State Jan. 24-26, is currently dean of the College of Business at Arkansas Tech University. He was previously dean of the College of Business at Texas A&M University-Texarkana. He was a member of the Department of Marketing and Advertising in the College of Business at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where he was professor of marketing and the director of the college’s executive MBA program.
Bashaw has published 23 journal articles, 24 conference proceedings/presentations, and has won several awards for teaching, research, and service. He has consulted with more than 40 organizations and individuals during his academic career.
Bashaw received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Baylor University. After a seven-year career in sales and marketing, he was awarded the master of business administration degree, also from Baylor University. Finally, Bashaw earned a doctorate in marketing from the University of Memphis.
Gopalan, who will visit Jan. 27-29, is currently serving as professor of management and MBA program coordinator at Winston-Salem State University. He was assistant dean for graduate business programs, associate dean, and interim dean of the School of Business and Economics at WSSU. Prior to his arrival at Winston-Salem State University he worked at West Texas A&M University (1990-2000) and at Columbus State University (2000-2004).
Originally from Chennai, India, Gopalan has lived in the United States for the last 32 years. He received a bachelor of commerce degree from Loyola College, University of Madras; a master of business administration from the University of Southern Mississippi; and a doctor of business administration from Louisiana Tech University. His teaching, research and consulting interests are in the areas of cross-cultural management, strategy and ethics.
Dr. Louis Dawkins will continue to serve as interim dean for the school throughout the spring 2016 semester.
