Boswell serving as association president

Dr. Angela Boswell, professor of history and associate dean of Matt Locke Ellis College of Arts and Sciences at Henderson, is serving as president of the Southern Association for Women Historians.

The organization has more than 700 members from around the world whose purposes are to stimulate interest in the study of southern history and women’s history, to advance the status of women in the historical profession of the South, and provide a forum for women historians to discuss issues of professional concern.

Boswell has also contributed a chapter to Texas Women: Their Histories, Their Lives, which was published recently by the University of Georgia Press. The anthology received the Liz Carpenter Award for Research in the History of Women and Texas presented by the Texas State Historical Association.

Boswell co-edited an anthology of essays, Women in Civil War Texas: Diversity and Dissidence in the Trans-Mississippi, which will be published this fall by University of North Texas Press. Deborah Liles is the co-editor.
