ASBTDC helps Hot Springs brewery get started
— Rose Schweikhart
When the CBS Sunday Morning show featured Hot Springs on March 6, it highlighted the Spa City’s historical bathhouses and the therapeutic effects of the national park’s natural hot water.
One segment focused on the Superior Bathhouse Brewery and Distillery, which, according to the report, is the only brewery located in a national park.
Rose Schweikhart leased the closed bathhouse and enlisted the help of the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center at Henderson State University.
The ASBTDC worked with Schweikhart as she prepared to open her business in the historic downtown building.
The center provided valuable market research on the micro-brewery industry, one-on-one business and financial planning, business related training seminars, and assistance in obtaining a grant through the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas, according to Leah Hasley, director for Henderson’s SBTDC.
“Rose also participated in a high impact learning experience where a graduate level group of four students worked with her to prepare a comprehensive marketing plan,” Hasley said.
“We are extremely proud of Rose and the success she has had with her business.”

Hasley said the services provided by the ASBTDC are available to all entrepreneurs in Arkansas at no charge, except some training where a nominal fee may be charged.
