Art professor wins top award at exhibition

David Warren, associate professor of art at Henderson State, was awarded Best of Show at the 2015 Irene Rosenzweig Biennial Juried Exhibition in Pine Pine Bluff for his linocut entitled Voyage.

The exhibition included the various works of 29 artists from a seven-state region and was juried by Coriana Close, professor of art at the University of Memphis.

In describing Warren’s winning entry, Close said, “Every inch of the paper is used expressively. The print itself show strong technical prowess, but what won me over in the end is the narrative… The ability to create such a complex composition which includes a multifaceted narrative is a unique skill indeed.”
