2016 Reddie Read program postponed

May 17, 2017 by Steve Fellers

2016 Reddie Read program postponed

Author Sherman Alexie, who was scheduled to speak this fall as part of Henderson State University’s Reddie Read program, has been forced to cancel the appearance due to his health.

The Reddie Read committee selected Alexie’s The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian as its 2016 title.

The committee has decided to postpone Alexie’s presentation and discussion of his book until fall 2017, according to Lea Ann Alexander, library director and Reddie Read program coordinator.

The Reddie Read program offers everyone on campus the opportunity to read and discuss the same book over the course of the semester.

Incoming freshmen are given a copy of that year’s selected title during Heart Start and subsequent summer and fall registration. A series of events related to the selected book occurs through the first half of the semester.
